Welcome to the Project "LIFE IN THE WILD"
Ecosystems Free from Hunting

Nature as a Living Model of Balance and Diversity

In a world that is often loud and fast, it is easy to lose sight of what surrounds us – and of what connects us. This project invites you to take a step back into silence. Into a landscape that stretches from open steppe to dense forests. An area of 1,200 hectares – free of hunting, low in disturbance, alive.

Whether on site or from afar – from the office, the sofa, or under the open sky: everyone becomes part of a living process. We invite you to dive deeper, to wonder, and to rediscover connections.

Reserves for "LIFE IN THE WILD"

Our goal is to create a safe refuge for wildlife,
to strengthen their populations and to study ecological self-regulation.
With a Life in the Wild sponsorship, you help preserve this reserve.
You support the protection of natural habitats, strengthen the survival of wild species,
and foster awareness for a respectful coexistence of humans and animals.

Conservation Area

Lake Bergen offers undisturbed wildlife observation in a natural setting. Since 2005, the former mining landscape has been undergoing renaturation,
supporting long-term, sustainable conservation goals.

Research

The project takes a transdisciplinary approach to study the effects of a low-disturbance environment on wildlife, as well as encounters between humans and animals – and to explore their influence on sustainable action.

Become part of the Project

Experience live – on site or virtually –
how wildlife thrives, how biodiversity emerges, and how renaturation creates new habitats. Let yourself be inspired by nature as a living model of balance and diversity.

Your Sponsorship Protects "LIFE IN THE WILD"

Become a "LIFE IN THE WILD" sponsor. With just €25 per quarter (€100 per year),
you help preserve the reserve for wildlife and support ongoing monitoring.

Thanks to your sponsorship, Rusty and others live in a hunting-free reserve – safe, wild, and free.
With your support, we monitor his behavior, his movements, his life.
The insights gained may be groundbreaking – for many other animals, for entire landscapes.

You will receive a certificate, regular updates, and the chance to observe the reserve of your sponsored animal
on site from a viewing platform.

Thank you for your support!

Our GOALS

BE THERE LIVE
Observe wildlife – on site or virtually

DOCUMENT AND RESEARCH
Strengthen family groups and promote biodiversity

WONDER AND PRESERVE
Rediscover connections and establish hunting-free ecosystems

UNIQUE FEATURE OF THE PROJECT

Our vision is to preserve habitats where animals can thrive undisturbed and be observed in their natural behavior. These protected areas give you the opportunity to experience the beauty and diversity of our native forests in an entirely new way.

In Germany, there are hardly any places truly free from hunting – even in nature reserves, national parks, and wilderness areas, hunting still takes place, at least to some extent. Our hunting-free and low-disturbance zone creates an exceptional opportunity to experience nature in its original form. Here, wildlife can be observed without interference, and their natural behavior can be studied. This special space allows for a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between humans and nature – and offers valuable insights for protecting our environment.

Your Donation

goes directly toward the purchase
of wildlife cameras, the safeguarding
of the reserve, monitoring, and the documentation of results.
Every contribution helps protect
Life of the Wild and supports the promotion of hunting-free ecosystems.

With our blog, you have the opportunity to gain live insights into a unique nature project.
Through wildlife cameras, you can experience firsthand how animals return, move within a low-disturbance area, and how biodiversity flourishes.
It is a direct window into nature, showing how sustainable processes unfold and the stories they tell.

Learn more about the fascinating connections in nature – from wildlife behavior to biodiversity and the renaturation process that has been successfully advancing since 2005. The Area

This is where our journey begins. Discover the impressive landscape and fascinating wildlife from a central viewing point.
The geotechnical restricted zone ensures that wildlife remains undisturbed, allowing for authentic experiences of nature.
A special highlight is the resident wolf pack. This area is part of the Lausitzer Seenland conservation project, which promotes the sustainable development of former mining landscapes.
