Wildlife Reserve

Visitors can experience the area from a centrally located viewing point, which offers wide views across the landscape and allows for close, undisturbed wildlife observation. Because the designated geotechnical restricted zone prevents direct human access, the animals are able to follow their natural behavior and may approach without disturbance. This encourages authentic experiences of nature and supports the project’s goal of fostering empathy, interest, and a sense of responsibility for wildlife and their habitats.

A special highlight of the Wildlife Reserve is the resident wolf pack, which not only contributes to ecological diversity but also inspires additional fascination among nature-interested visitors.

This site is part of the large-scale conservation project Lusatian Lake District, which has been managed since 2005 by Lausitzer Seenland gemeinnützige GmbH. The aim is to secure the post-mining landscape for long-term conservation purposes and to develop land use practices that are in harmony with nature.

The existing infrastructure and the already designated project area create optimal conditions for the implementation of this initiative. All financial resources go directly into the planned measures, ensuring efficient and targeted project execution.
